Homework is an important part of the learning process for all students. A timetable will be set at the beginning of the year, and will be based on approximately one hour per subject per week. Students will be set homework regularly and will be expected to complete this.
For Year 7, all homework is recorded in the student's planner, to enable parents to check on the homework set each day. Parents are asked to examine and sign the planner on a weekly basis. Form tutors will check planners regularly.
The co-operation of parents is essential if students are to develop good study skills.
Homework Club: in addition, there will be a homework club, which students who are in need of particular support are invited to attend. Here they can study quietly, with guidance available if required. Details of the club will be available from the school.
Years 7, 8 and 9 you should expect each homework to take 30 - 45 minutes, but these times are only for guidance.
Years 10 and 11 the amount of homework will vary with the demands of Examination Coursework. Sometimes it will be necessary to exceed the suggested times.
Homeworks in Art, Drama, Music, IT and Technology will be set within each Learning Cycle, but not necessarily every week.
