Drama Key Stage 4

Students who choose Performing Arts in Years Ten and Eleven will study up to 7 units (for Diploma), which consist of:  Performing Scripted Plays, Devising Plays, Acting Skills and Techniques, Musical Theatre, Performing Arts Production Process, Working in the Performing Arts Business and Professional Development in the Performing Arts Industry.

Students will learn a variety of dramatic techniques in acting, exploring a range of issues using both scripted plays and improvisations.  The stage lighting and sound effects are also used in performances.

You will work in small groups, rehearsing plays both scripted and devised, and you will perform them on stage in front of younger classes as part of your assessment.  It’s exciting, nerve-wracking, and a lot of fun!!

BTEC Performing Arts has enabled almost 50% of the students taking this course to achieve Grade A or A* in Summer 2010!!  There were 19 students this year: 4 students achieved Grade C, 6 students achieved Grade B, and 9 students achieved grade A or A*!!
