The French GCSE Examination
Students will be tested in the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Each component skill is worth 25% of the total marks.
For each skill (with the exception of writing) students will be tested at either Foundation or Higher level and the level of entry will be discussed with them well before the examination.
The skill of writing is not assessed as a formal examination at the end of the course as writing assessment will take the form of course work which will be done in class with the teacher during Y10 and Y11. This will be marked by the teacher who will choose the best three pieces of writing for each student to be submitted as the writing component in the examination.
In each skill, marks will be awarded according to the level of performance as follows:
